Dave Stevens is attempting to break Mike Hartley’s 29year old Pennine Way Record. Steve George writes: The Pembroke meet in June has been incorrectly posted as Steve Gregory as meet organiser in the Meetstaff…its actually me! Inken Blunk, Meet co-ordinator, writes: The meet is now full and, regrettably, the hut location in the village of Aultbea makes camper van parking nearby quite awkward. If you are travelling in the area, there are “free” van sites on the A832 Gairloch – Laide road as well as the minor road from Lade to Mellon Udrigle. There are camp sites at Gairloch, Poolewe & Laide. Feel free to call in at the hut of an evening : Ronnan Cottage, 7, Aultbea, Achnasheen IV22 2JA ; OS 19 NG 873/891. The hut entrance is behind the post office.

Bill Rowntree writes: The hotel’s garden adjoins the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Nearby there are the famous lily ponds at Bosherston, various bird sanctuaries and nature reserves. The meet will be from Monday 14 May though to Thursday morning 17 May. Week of 9 – 15 April 2018 Wednesday Walkers: 9.25ml from Roadside, Ridgegate reservoir [957714] via Langley, Shutlingsloe, Wildboarclough, Oakenclough, Sutton. Pub: Ryles Arms [942694]. Details Mike Gregg. Wednesday evening climbing: Pule Hill…on A62 between Saddleworth and Marsden. Park in layby just past the Carriage House pub and walk up the incline to access the crag. Co-ordinator: Craig Hannah. Pub: Carriage House [GR028102]. Weekend: High Moss. The “plan” is to be a free spirit and do your own thing. That said I plan a walk on Saturday (roughly the Dunnerdale fell race route) but hopefully at a fraction of that pace. Un bon repas (meal anyway) is on offer on Saturday evening for all those that can let me know of their intentions to scoff by Wednesday 11th (please bring own refreshments).
